June 2013: Dolphin Bay technicians have just finished installing several new safety and control features at the AC Whitcher sawmill in Cold Stream, in the Tsitsikamma region.
Our technicians installed a mechanism at AC Whitcher to prevent possible chemical spillages that could be caused by human error, and a system allowing both operators and management to monitor the stages in the wood treatment cycle.
Dolphin Bay also provided a software system for AC Whitcher to record and manage its treatment data quickly and efficiently.
Dolphin Bay staff observed that these measures would help optimise operations at AC Whitcher, and advised the company on the best measures to take.
AC Whitcher CEO Shaun Westcott said the new features were a “huge benefit” to the company.
“Dolphin Bay painted the picture of what could be done, drawing upon their knowledge and expertise and, as the project was implemented, the concept evolved with the combined inputs of our engineering team, illustrating the power of great co-operation.
“The key attributes that we require from any supplier are quality, speed, service and cost, and the fact that Dolphin continues to be a key supplier is because they continue to meet these exacting standards.
"We are very pleased with Dolphin Bay, not only in terms of this project but in terms of the support they supply at all times. If we have a need they do their best to address it.
“We intend to build on our strong relationship with Dolphin Bay as we continue to build and grow our business,” he added.
